Explore the Heart of the Bunya Mountains
Rising to 1,100 meters above sea level, the Bunya Mountains are home to the world’s largest natural Bunya Pine Forest, along with ancient rainforests, open grasslands, and rare ecosystems. This pristine wilderness offers an opportunity to encounter an extraordinary range of wildlife, including a diverse array of birds, butterflies, and orchids, as well as the towering Bunya Pines that can reach up to 50 meters high.
Bunya Mountains National Park is the second oldest national park in Queensland and is home to the world’s largest stand of ancient Bunya Pines (Araucaria bidwillii). The park is also a sanctuary for over 120 species of birds, many species of mammals, frogs, and reptiles, as well as more than 30 rare and threatened species.
